Dennis Kennedy Headshot

Congratulations, Dennis Kennedy, on your appointment to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Portable Fire Extinguisher Committee!

Dennis is well-versed in all things fire protection. In his current role as President of Summit Fire National Consulting, he leads the National Accounts and Fire Consulting teams. Working with customers across the country, Dennis and his teams set the standards in code consulting and fire life safety services. His previous experience with industry organizations includes serving on numerous NFPA committees, NFPA Section President, Chairman of the ISO fire protection standards, several terms as President of the Fire Equipment Manufacturers Association and founding of the Firefighting Foam Coalition (FFFC).

According to NFPA:

An NFPA Technical Committee (TC) serves as the principal consensus body responsible for the development and revision of an NFPA Standard or Standards emanating from a Technical Committee project. Appointment to a Technical Committee is based on: qualifications of the applicant; a balance of interest categories on the committee; maintaining the committee at a manageable working size; and the ability of the applicant to attend and participate in all committee meetings.

Through his role on the Portable Fire Extinguisher Committee, Dennis will contribute to the primary responsibility for documents on the installation, maintenance, and use of portable fire extinguishers and equipment. In particular, the Portable Fire Extinguisher Committee has responsibility towards NFPA 10 Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers and NFPA 408 Standard for Aircraft Hand Portable Fire Extinguishers.

“It will be an honor to represent Summit on this important national standard, working to continue to require the installation and maintenance of fire extinguishers”, stated Dennis.
